Insulation across buildings, cold chain and industrial equipment

Buildings and limited space

For a uniform flat layer, material thermal resistance is R = t / λ. At equal R, a lower conductivity can reduce thickness. A complete wall also includes thermal bridges, joints and surface resistances. Compare equivalent conditions, not thickness alone.

Cold chain and equipment

For cold chain, define the allowed temperature range, duration, payload and opening cycles. For pipes and vessels, include geometry, joints, supports and condensation. A flat-wall thickness comparison cannot directly specify a cylindrical pipe.

Qualification before claims

Define the test standard, baseline, full assembly and acceptance criteria. Broad temperature ranges, fire claims or energy-saving percentages require grade-specific evidence. In a data center, insulation controls unwanted heat transfer; it does not replace the cooling path that removes server heat.

Educational principles, not TiKOUS product test results. Confirm grade, conditions and current documentation before specification.
